Private Home Care's Nurse Manager

Margaret Behan is Private Home Care's in-house Nurse Manager.  She trained as a General Nurse in the Mater Hospital and has specialized in Operating Theatre and Intensive Care Nursing.

Margaret Behan has also worked in areas of palliative care and with children who have special needs through voluntary organizations.

Within Private Home Care, Margaret has made a big impact in training our carers and also through visits to our clients in the privacy of their own home. Margaret's professional expertise and experience, combined with our two decades of experience in offering private care in the home, means that all our clients enjoy the highest levels of professional service.

Margaret is pictured above at a training event for our carers where she demonstrated handwashing techniques and respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette.

History of Private Home Care:

Private Home Care was established for the private sector in 1989 by Managing Director Elizabeth Nicholson. At that time, there was limited professional organised care for older people living in their own homes. The Health Boards did provide care support to people subject to their circumstances.

Private Home Care continues to support the elderly, but we now support independent living for people of all ages and varying needs, including mothers with young children, convalescents and disabilities. As well as in the home, cover is also provided in hospitals, nursing homes and within many organisations.

We were approached in 1997 by the Health Board and St James's Hospital to care for a gentleman with a severe disability. This gentleman was a long-stay hospital patient, who wished to be cared for at home.

In order to facilitate this request and to comply with Health Board payment instructions, our sister company was established. With the disestablishment of the Health Boards, we continue to provide carers to clients on behalf of the HSE.

In keeping with our ethos "we care for others as we would like to be cared for ourselves" our services conform to our strict ethical and moral standards.  We are a certified ISO 9001:2000 company. After 21 years experience, we have an intimate knowledge of our country's system and people and our care services are designed specifically to meet the Irish market.

At Private Home Care, we offer a superior service based on our 21 years experience giving clients the opportunity to enjoy maximum freedom, given his or her circumstances.

We are truly proud of being a wholly Irish owned company.
